What weight is the G5-01 in comparison to other Speedglas Helmets?
The Speedglas G5-01 Welding Helmet is the same weight as the Speedglas 9100 FX Air. The weight of the Welding Helmet (excl. Headband and welding filter) is 665g. The weight of the Welding Filter is 206g. It is designed for rough conditions and has a narrower profile for a better fit. It has a new improved headband design and an optional, extra-large, back head pad for enhanced comfort.
What are the typical differences between the G5-01 Helmet and the 9100 FX Air Helmet?
The Upgraded G5-01 Helmet now incorporates Variable Colour Technology along with an extra dark shade 14. It has a 15% larger grinding visor and a larger welding lens. The Flip-up Welding Visor is now removable making it feel lighter in the process. It has a new, optional helmet-mounted task light enabling welders to enter and work in poorly lit spaces, with configurable light intensity. It has Bluetooth Connectivity pairing with your smartphone to use the 3M Connected Equipment App.
Can the G5-01 be purchased without respiratory protection?
No, you can only purchase the G5-01 with either the Adflo powered air respirator or the Versaflo V-500E supplied air regulator. But a similar helmet, the G5-02 is available without respiratory protection.
What type of cover lenses are used with the G5-01?
The inside cover lens is Part No: 528025 and the outside cover lens is Part No: 526000. For the grinding visor plates use Part Number: 613000.
Does the G5-01 have Side Windows?
No, the G5-01 does not have Side Windows, instead it benefits from a larger viewing area and 15% larger clear grinding visor
Can I adjust the brightness on the Optional Task Light?
Yes, you can configure the light intensity using the external button on it’s side. Press it once to turn it on and then hold in the button to run through the various light levels until you reach the one most suitable for you.
Is the Task Light suitable for heavy duty welding?
Yes, the Light Task has an outer cover plate to protect it from sparks and spatters. It can be easily removed and replaced if it does become worn over time.
How does the Bluetooth Connectivity work?
Just download the 3M Connected Equipment App onto your smartphone and pair through Bluetooth to the G5-01 welding filter. Once connected you can remotely configure settings on your phone. Adjust dark settings, record your welding helmet maintenance log, review statistics for hours in dark and light state and instantly access user manuals. You have the option to program up to 10 memory modes through your phone, allowing you to jump between modes with the click of a button.
Can another welder use my Lens Settings through Bluetooth?
No, the helmet will only connect to one phone at any time
How do you remove the Welding Visor?
For extended non-welding work, just unscrew the two dials to completely remove the welding visor and re-attach the dials again, reducing the helmet weight by up to 36%. All adjustable functions are imprinted on the helmet, and adjustments can be made while wearing the helmet and your gloves.
